BFC Plus, a core element of our service, is specifically tailored for New Zealanders facing severe financial hardship and multiple disadvantages. This service is focused on household finances, not business or commercial matters.
BFC Plus is designed for those who require intensive support, including individuals who are:

Experiencing multiple crises, such as severe financial hardship

Struggling to cope with sudden life changes

Engaging with multiple services like Oranga Tamariki, family violence services, or English language support

Vulnerable to financial abuse or exploitation

In need of some form of money management
Clients in this group often:

Have limited or no financial literacy

Frequently use Work and Income hardship grants

Are commonly referred to BFC services due to repeated hardship grant requests
Additionally, they may face social, economic, and health challenges such as:

Isolation or lack of access to whānau or community resources

Addiction issues (drugs, alcohol, gambling)

Long-term unemployment or reliance on benefits

Unstable living conditions or transience

Family violence

Lack of basic amenities
